Before making a wax product, you must prepare all materials and wax.
You can see the basic set for candles in the article "What materials should be chosen for making candles?".
We recommend using wax specifically for shaped candles, as it is structurally strong and easily reproduces all the details of the shape.

1.  Calculation of the amount of wax:

If you do not know what the weight of your candle will be, you can use this instruction.
Usually, on our website, the weight of the candle is indicated in the product description.

2. Melting process:

Melt the wax in a water bath in a wax cauldron. You can also use a regular metal ladle, if you are sure that your stove will not overheat the wax, but will melt it slowly, so you can do without a water bath.
For example, we choose soy wax KeraSoy Pillar 4120. Its melting point is 57-63 °C, it is very important not to overheat the wax above 90 °C. We use a thermometer to control the temperature. If desired, you can add dyes and aromatic oils.
IMPORTANT, these materials should be added to the wax at the temperature specified in the manufacturer's instructions. The temperature of filling the candle is 62-67 °C.

3. Preparation of the form for filling:

We choose the size of the wick and measure the approximate center of the mold.
The selection of the wick goes along the largest side of the candle (you can familiarize yourself with the size grid and selection of the wick here). If you are not sure about the size of the wick, we recommend trying sets of braided wicks of 1. Then we pull the wick with a special awl or a needle with a large eye.
Before pouring, we heat the silicone mold with a hair dryer so that there is no dissonance between the temperatures of the mold and the wax. And we lubricate the form well with silicone spray for easy removal of the product.
After these actions, we fasten the incisions of the form together to avoid traces of "seams" on the finished product, and fasten the mold with stationery rubber bands.
Make sure you don't drag the shape, this will help avoid circular marks of the eraser on the candle. In general, there should be a medium tension, if the shape is quite thin in diameter, just make a knot from the rubber band, this will reduce it. If the mold is not tightened enough, the wax may simply flow out of the mold slots.

4. Filling:

We wait for the wax to cool down to the desired temperature, for KeraSoy Pillar 4120 it is 62-67 °C, and start pouring it into the mold.
We recommend doing this slowly by tilting the mold and pouring the wax at an angle while rotating the mold. Especially when these are complex forms in the work and have many details to avoid excess air getting into the wax. Since the defect will appear in the form of small bubbles on the finished product.
We fix the wick in the center with a wooden holder and leave it until it hardens completely. On the example of the wax that we chose, it is at least 6-7 hours. For greater strength, after 4-5 hours of solidification, we can put the products in the refrigerator for 30-120 minutes, depending on the size of the candle.

5. Finished product:

In order to remove the finished product from the mold, we remove the wooden holder for the wick and stationery erasers. Carefully remove the finished product from the silicone mold and cut off the excess wick.
For trimming the wick, we have in our assortment handy nippers.

Your shaped candle is ready. Good luck!
